How to Engage

Birthing hospitals must meet certain designation criteria to be considered a member of the MI AIM collaborative. Requirements for participation include a commitment to:

Birthing hospitals are encouraged to use the MI AIM MHA Community site as a collaborative space to engage with peers about bundle implementation and organizational policies related to maternal health quality improvement.

Collaborative Patient Safety Bundles

The primary responsibility of MI AIM participants is to implement the collaborative’s patient safety bundles.

Patient safety bundles are a set of evidence-based guidelines offering clinical and non-clinical staff resources aimed at improving clinical care processes and patient outcomes. Patient safety bundles help fully equip hospitals with actionable protocols, necessary equipment, staff education and staff drills to prevent and adequately treat severe maternal events.

This bundle provides actionable steps that can be adapted to a variety of facilities and resource levels to improve quality of care and outcomes for patients experiencing an obstetric hemorrhage.
Hypertension

This bundle provides actionable steps that can be adapted to a variety of facilities and resource levels to improve quality of care and outcomes for patients experiencing hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.
Sepsis

Maternal Sepsis

The bundle provides actionable steps that can be adapted to a variety of facilities and resource levels to improve quality of care and outcomes for patients experiencing sepsis.

Committees

Leadership

The MI AIM leadership committee comprises the organizations charged with leading the strategic orientation and plan for the collaborative, which includes founders of MI AIM, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the quality improvement arm of the Michigan Health & Hospital Association – the MHA Keystone Center.

Operations

The operations committee supports the collaborative and its leadership by providing feedback on programming and requirements, as well as recruitment support. The operations committee welcomes representatives from Michigan’s Regional Perinatal Quality Collaborative (RPQC) partners and birthing hospital participants.
